Net Zero SEND School in Hertfordshire
We are proud to have played a key role in the development of The Valley School in Stevenage, Hertfordshire—a project designed with net-zero carbon emissions in mind, replacing the outdated 1960s school buildings adjacent to the site. Clanfield Systems Ltd. was responsible for the installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art distributed Building Energy Management System (BEMS) to ensure optimal control and energy monitoring throughout the school.
The BEMS, centred around a Honeywell Trend IQ4 solution with an IQ Vision head-end, allows for seamless adjustments via the school’s I.T. network, ensuring that energy use is optimised at all times. The system also incorporates Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) units that manage fresh air distribution in classrooms based on CO2 concentrations, while the sports hall benefits from natural ventilation through opening louvres.
We are delighted that The Valley School has been recognised for its innovative design and sustainability, winning the 2024 School Building category at the Education Business Awards. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to delivering advanced, energy-efficient solutions for educational environments.
